Vote for Judith Huirne for the Societal Impact Award 2024!

11-12-2024

To all Amsterdam UMC colleagues: vote for Judith Huirne for the Societal Impact Award 2024!

In this video, Judith explains the importance of conducting robust translational scientific research into female-specific conditions, such as adenomyosis and uterine niche (large scars after cesarean section). These conditions have a profound impact—not only on the women and their families but on society as a whole—due to the significant loss of work productivity or unfulfilled family planning. It is no surprise that former Minister of Health Pia Dijkstra identified this as a key priority.

Together with my team, especially PhD students Veerle Michels, Yousif Dawood and Daniël Docter, I strive to support Judith in her clinical work by providing high-resolution images of uteruses, created using Micro-CT and the synchrotron within the Human Organ Atlas Hub. These tools allow us to study the anatomy of both healthy and affected uteruses at the micrometer level, helping us explore potential treatments. For more info on our work, check 3Dhumandevelopment.com.

Let’s support Judith’s impressive efforts! Vote now (tulpintranet.nl) and help her win the Societal Impact Award 2024.
