Amsterdam Gala of Science – Science Talent Award
21-11-2023
What a fantastic evening the Science Gala was! At a sold-out International Theater Amsterdam, Bernadette de Bakker had the opportunity to talk about our research, after which she was awarded the New Scientist Science Talent Award by Jim Jansen, the Editor-in-Chief of New Scientist.
The Art and Culture theme, chosen by neuroscientist Erik Scherder, was very inspiring. From this, we gathered that many brilliant scientists, such as Robbert Dijkgraaf, also possess artistic genes. We suspect that it’s precisely this creativity that enables you to think outside the box and find answers to scientific problems.
It was also great to catch up with Lisa Becking, a talented Marine Biologist at Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Wageningen University, and a direct colleague of Bernadettes brother Didier de Bakker.
Thanks to New Scientist and in particular Jim Jansen and Didi de Vries for organizing this amazing evening!
