Sophie Visser got awarded an NWO Doctoral Scholarship for Teachers
5-02-2024
Extremely proud of our research assistant Sophie Visser who has successfully secured an NWO Doctoral Scholarship for Teachers to conduct research on fetal age estimation. With her expertise as a forensic anthropologist and biology and science teacher at Het Saenredam (secondary school), she has supported our team already for years in supervising students. She is also closely involved in the completion of the 3D Fetal Atlas under the leadership of PhD candidate Yousif Dawood.
The NWO’s Doctoral Scholarships for Teachers program has recognized Sophie’s potential, enabling her to continue her research with us for another five years, part-time, alongside her teaching role at Het Saenredam. This achievement not only reflects Sophie’s individual excellence but also underscores the importance of supporting educators in pursuing research to enrich their teaching and contribute to their fields. A huge thanks to principal Erwin Nieuwenhuis of Het Saenredam for supporting Sophie in her academic journey.
We are proud to have Sophie as a part of our team and look forward to her continued contributions to both education and research. Congratulations, Sophie, on this well-deserved recognition! Your journey is truly inspiring and reinforces the bridge between academic research and educational practice.
